Cliff Smith is kind a legend in radio. He’s known as one of the pioneers of the Smooth Jazz radio format that started in the 1980’s.
His first real radio job was at Atlanta’s legendary WQXI FM, 94Q where he hosted “Jazz Flavours”.
From there, Cliff helped forge the sound of Smooth Jazz radio stations in Raleigh/Durham, Boston, and Philadelphia, before settling in as morning host on the first Smooth Jazz station in Phoenix, 95.5 FM KYOT, “The Coyote”.
He’s worked as a Program Director, Music Director, and Drive-Time Host on the air for over 25 years.
After some time in LA doing a fair amount of acting and voiceover work, Cliff returned to Arizona. He is proud to be part of SKY 7, playing “Today’s Jazz” every day from 3-7 pm Pacific time. He’s also the host of a new show called The Fuse.
It’s a fusion of musical flavors with jazz, rock, Latin and more. You can hear The Fuse four times every week on SKY 7, Friday at 6 PM Pacific, with encores Saturday and Sunday night at 6 PM. A Saturday morning encore of The Fuse plays at 10 AM Pacific.
It’s a great show and a very cool addition to our program lineup on SKY 7.
